Soundtrack 2020

The composers and residents of Soundtrack 2020 were half way through their

creative process when lockdown happened. This meant the composers could

no longer meet with their partner residents, the Pre-Con chamber groups set

to perform and record all 6 works were unable to rehearse, and there could be

no public concert.

However, we refused to be hampered by these restrictions and so turned to our

friend and Soundtrack mentor Richard Barnard, and a young film company,

Chandler Media, to help us deliver a beautifully produced dvd film featuring all of

the compositions enhanced with beautiful images to reflect the music, programme

notes and messages of friendship from each composer to their resident.

Each Pre-Con chamber musician recorded their part at home and each piece was

ably mixed and edited together by Richard...a remarkable feat in extraordinary circumstances.

We hope you enjoy it.

The responses from residents and their families were simply lovely and we're so glad we were able to rescue such a special project.

'The porter has set up the DVD player for Lillian. She has just phoned me to let me know how moving she has found watching the DVD and how much she enjoyed the beautiful music. She said it made her cry when she listened to Malachi’s interpretation of her life. She was so, so thrilled and couldn’t stop saying thank you'.

'Sending our thanks and congratulations for these dvds. The whole thing is magnificent and amazing considering the circumstances in which it all came together. This is one occasion when 'Awesome!' is an utterly accurate comment.'

“I thought it was excellent! I loved the way Georgie used the ‘cello part to ‘mimic’ my voice and the way the second part of the music changed to represent that particular part of my life.

She summarised my biography really well.”

'We have just watched the dvd and thought it was beautiful. Much more than I ever expected. I found it quite emotional. A huge thank you to everyone who made it possible. Thank you once again for including Auntie Lil. I will definitely treasure it.'
